Our humanitarian “Adventure Trips” provide an experience that is both incredible and unforgettable. For many, it is life-changing. Whether it is the first time you encounter a magnificent billfish or the first time your presence plays a role in helping a child in extreme need, an Adventure Trip is no ordinary vacation!
Nothing unites friends, co-workers, or family members like working together to benefit young children suffering from poverty. Participants are not only surprised by how much fun they have working together, but also that their efforts are so tremendously rewarding. It is often the thrill of big game fishing that attracts travelers initially, but it is the "real adventure" of helping those who need it the most that brings them back again and again!
- Our trips are family-oriented, suitable for men, women and children. Accommodations are typically comfortable and participants are able to relax and work at their own pace.
- Trips are offered throughout the year, typically lasting between 4-8 days. The majority of time is generally spent participating in humanitarian relief projects, followed by a day of big game fishing or a variety of other recreational activities. The length of trips, schedule, and projects vary depending on the desires of those traveling.
- The cost generally runs between $1000-2000 per person, and include flight, food & lodging, transportation, and fishing or other recreation. Exact cost will vary and depends on the destination, length of stay, number of travelers, and many other factors.
- Fundraisers are available and encouraged to help with the cost of travel. All trip expenses are tax-deductible (other than general purchases, souvenirs, and recreational activities). Please consult your tax advisor for details.
- Anyone interested in traveling with us may request to put together their own team or be joined with others to form a team. Teams typically consist of 8-15 travelers and are accompanied by 1-2 RLA Trip Leaders.
- Our trip leaders coordinate with a local host organization already involved with successful projects within the target area. These organizations are familiar with hosting visitors and work closely with our leaders to ensure the safety and comfort of each participant.
- RLA will coordinate travel, accommodations, and all activities, providing each traveler with a detailed itinerary and information packet prior to travel. This information will include estimated cost, packing list, and contact information. Trips are typically scheduled 3-6 months out, so there is plenty of time to plan and prepare for an incredible adventure!
So come along…
* It is recommended that children be at least 8-10 years of age and have the maturity needed to contribute to the team’s project.
